To Become An Affiliate Marketer, Do You Need A Website?

why you need a website
why you need a website
Did you learn something? Help others, pin it!

For affiliate marketers, has social media make websites obsolete?

No, even though social media sites will likely play a role in your affiliate marketing business, they aren’t a substitute for your own website.

It’s a great idea to use social media sites as a platform to build your following. With millions of people visiting most social media sites daily, you can really get your offers in front of people quickly, easily and cheaply.

BUT…

That doesn’t make them a substitute for your own website.

When you purchase your own domain name and hosting account you essentially own a piece of the internet.

Think of it like this – would you build a new franchise on land that didn’t belong to you?

Of course not. Whoever owns the land can come in and claim your million dollar store any time they want!

It’s a similar concept online. Social media sites don’t belong to you. That business page you created on Facebook belongs to Facebook, not you.

Those Youtube followers that you’ve built up over time don’t subscribe to you, they subscribe to your channel…and you don’t own your channel!

What would you do if Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Pintesrst, etc. changed their terms of service and you were suddenly non-compliant and got de-platformed or demonetized?

It happens more often than you’d think!

What if you woke up one morning and you found that all of a sudden you’re online presence was reduced to zero? All that hard work to build up followers gone, literally overnight.

Let that sink in for a minute.

There’s nothing you can do to stop that scenario, it happens.

BUILD YOUR BUSINESS WITH A SOLID FOUNDATION

So, that is why you need a website – a website is something you own. It’s your own online presence that you control and you don’t have to worry about someone taking it away from you!

That’s the kind of foundation you want to build any online business on- no matter what type of online business you’re running.

Social media is a marketing tool and should be a part of your overall online strategy.

BUT…

Social media sites should only be a supplement – not a substitute for your own online property.

When you have your own website you can make that your base of operations. You can, and should, link it to all your social media accounts.

You can, and should, add multiple optin forms to various pages on your website and build an email list.

When you have your own website, you have a lot of control and a much smaller risk.

OK, I Need A Website, How Do I Get One?

Hopefully I’ve made the case and you see the importance of building your online presence.

Affiliate Marketing Programs – The Secret To True Passive Income

Did you enjoy this article? Share the love, pin it!

What is the best affiliate marketing program for you? Simple, it’s a program that will actually teach you how to make money as an affiliate.

I used to teach swim lessons at the local YMCA. It was fun. I loved interacting with the kids in my classes.

One of the kids in my class had no fear. He would jump into the pool every chance he got. He would immediately sink to the bottom and I would haul him up and sit him on the side of the pool.

Get my latest book FREE Start A Blog In 5 Easy Steps Work from home and create a six figure income with your own blog. Start now!

I told him over and over not to get into the pool until I was there with him, until it was his turn.

Still, every time I was working with another kid this boy would jump into the pool!

By the time the 6 week course was completed he had learned some basics, he could float and swim enough to get himself back to the side of the pool.

Whew! That was a relief to his mom!

But he was lucky, it could have gone much, much worse.

When it comes to your affiliate marketing business are you like this kid at the pool?

Are you jumping in with both feet even though you don’t know how to swim? If so, you’ll be lucky if you make any money at all let alone make a consistent, large, full time income.

You must learn before you can swim. That’s where a quality affiliate marketing program comes in.

Learn & Earn

A good program will teach the skills you need to learn if you want to start making money quickly. It will also teach the skills you need to know to keep making money for the long term.

After all, this is a business you’re building. It isn’t a get rich quick scheme. You want to build your business on a solid foundation.

Making money quickly with your affiliate marketing business is fantastic, but it won’t mean a thing if you can’t continue to make consistent income for the long term.

One of the biggest reasons new affiliates fail to really make good money online is that they don’t know what they’re doing.

Even though affiliate marketing is pretty simple in theory, there are still skills you need to learn in order to build a solid business and make commissions on a consistent basis. That is where are solid affiliate marketing program comes in.

affiliate marketing programs

One of the best parts about building an affiliate marketing business is that you can create passive income. If you do it correctly, you truly can create an income stream that can make you money well into the future with little additional effort!

How cool would that be?

There are 4 basic steps you need to take in order to become an affiliate marketing success. If you can get these steps dialed in, you can make virtually unlimited affiliate marketing commissions for the rest of your life!

Choose the right niche. There are so many niches you can choose to promote as an affiliate, it’s practically limitless. BUT choosing the right niche can be the difference between long term success or total failure.

Find the right audience. Promoting golf clubs to someone who doesn’t golf is a total waste of time and money, right? To be successful you need to find the people who are passionate about your niche. People who spend money in your niche. Get your product or service in front of them, and you will make commissions!

Create a path to purchase. A quality sales funnel will warm up your traffic and get them primed to make a purchase. A good funnel helps build the interest of your prospect. It is called a funnel for a reason – it’s wide at the top with a lot of people flowing into it.

It offers information and products to the people in it. Those people who aren’t interested in your product or service drop out. That isn’t a bad thing because even though there are fewer people in the bottom of your funnel, these are the people who will buy from you!

Consistent, targeted traffic. There are two kinds of traffic free and paid. One type will cost you money and the other will cost you time.

affiliate marketing programs

To optimize the traffic you get you want to build a quality blog that provides people in your niche with great content on a consistent basis. Once you do that, it becomes really easy to get tons of highly motivated prospects to your site and into your sales funnel.

A Solid Foundation

Learning these skills will ensure both short term success and long term success.

You really can create a long term passive income that can comfortably support you and your family when you know the exact steps to follow.

Passive Income Affiliate Marketing – Is It Really Possible?

affiliate marketing
affiliate marketing, passive income
Did you find this helpful? Help others, pin it!

Affiliate marketing can lead to the perfect lifestyle mix of making lots of money AND having plenty of free time to enjoy it.

Recently, I had a conversation with a friend who decided to go back to work part time to make a little extra money for her family.

She didn’t necessarily need the money, she just wanted a little more wiggle room in the family budget every month.

Get my latest book FREE Start A Blog In 5 Easy Steps Work from home and create a six figure income with your own blog. Start now!

She got a job as a cashier at a local hardware store, she liked it well enough. But within a few months she realized that the tradeoff of her time versus the money she brought home might not be worth it.

Sure, she brought home more money, but she had a lot less time to enjoy it.

Plus, it was a little demoralizing to realize that 20 hours of her life were worth so little when she actually got her paycheck.

You’re reading this so it’s likely you’re in the same boat – you want more money but you still want to have a life.

To create a true passive affiliate marketing income just remember 2 words: recurring commissions.

Get my latest book FREE Start A Blog In 5 Easy Steps Work from home and create a six figure income with your own blog. Start now!

There are many products you can promote as an affiliate that have a subscription plan. When you refer a customer and they sign up, you will earn a commissions over and over again, as long as that person stays subscribed.

It’s a little like a writer who writes a book once but gets paid each time that book sells a copy. Do the work once, continue to get paid over and over again.

The big takeaway is this: It takes the same amount of work as an affiliate to make one sale one time as it does to sell a recurring billing product and make ongoing commissions indefinitely.

affiliate marketing

To increase your income, make sure you promote quality products that people will actually need. A quality subscription product will ensure the customer stays subscribed for a long time, then you get paid for much longer from that one subscriber.

The Downside of Recurring Commissions

Of course there are some downsides to recurring affiliate marketing commissions.

Here are a few things to be aware of:

  1. Most products with recurring commissions will offer a low introductory offer. So, the first commission you make may only be a few cents if the initial offer is a $1 trial offer. That means it will take a little longer to get a decent commission.
  2. If you can promote a quality product that people will really need, then they are likely to stay subscribed for a long time. But even in this scenario people will fall off and your commissions will fall off too.

Neither of these two issues are deal breakers – a recurring commission program will enable you to do the work once and get paid over and over again for a period of time. That means you can be earning even if you’re not actually working.

Also, continue promoting the recurring payment model since people will eventually cancel the recurring programs you already have.

By continually adding new people to the recurring program you’re promoting you can keep your commission level the same even when people cancel their subscription since you’ll be adding new people regularly.

The best way to run your affiliate marketing business is to promote a combination of single pay commissions and recurring commission products.

That way you will have money coming in right away, and also have money coming in over time.

Affiliate Marketing Resources You Must Have

affiliate marketing resources
AFFILIATE marketing resources
Share the love, pin it!

Here are the top affiliate marketing resources you need to have from the start to build a long term affiliate marketing business. Some of these tools are free, some are paid but they are all necessary to build your affiliate marketing business on a solid foundation.

Here are the affiliate marketing resources you should have:

A WordPress website. WordPress is the simplest type of website to set up because it has thousands of templates you can choose from. Installation is a few mouse clicks. It’s very easy and once your site is setup you can design it the way you want it to look.

In addition to easy set up, WordPress sites allow you to add plugins that can increase your sites functionality. Most plugins are free.

Get my latest book FREE Start A Blog In 5 Easy Steps Work from home and create a six figure income with your own blog. Start now!

There are 2 things you will need before you install your WordPress theme – a domain name and a hosting account. In order to create your website you will need to sign up for a hosting account and purchase a domain name.

Neither of these things are expensive. A domain name will cost around $10 a year and a hosting account can be as little as $10 a month. I personally use NameCheap.com for my domains and web hosting. They are inexpensive and I’ve never had better customer service!

NOTE: Do not start your business on a social media site like Facebook. Social media sites should only be used as a method to build your brand and to get traffic to your website. This is one of the biggest mistakes people make when starting out.

There are two main reasons people try to use this shortcut of using Facebook instead of creating their own website:

  1. They are scared of the prospect of creating their own website.
  2. They don’t think they can afford their own website.

But that’s a mistake. Think of it this way – you would never build a brick and mortar business on someones else’s land would you?

At least not unless you had an ironclad rental agreement.

Get my latest book FREE Start A Blog In 5 Easy Steps Work from home and create a six figure income with your own blog. Start now!

But with social media there is NO agreement at all, ironclad or otherwise. You use their property, their website, at their whim.

If they change the rules, if they decided you haven’t been abiding by their rules your page is gone. And there isn’t a darn thing you can do about it.

You’re back at square one. That’s a huge risk for your business, don’t do it!

Graphics design. You will need graphics especially if you use social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram to grow your audience and drive traffic.

Creating eye popping graphics is actually really easy with a site called Canva.com. You can use their templates to create professional looking pins, Facebook updates, info-graphics and eBook covers, etc.

Canva has a very robust free plan which will be enough for most people. If you do want more options such as more templates, more free images, more clip art choices or more choice of fonts, you can upgrade to the paid version.

Royalty free photos. When you create content for your blog you must include some images.

Images break up the text and add color and interest to your blog posts.

You need a good supply of eye catching images you can legally use that are free.

affiliate marketing resources

There are several sites where you can legally use their photos for whatever purpose you want. The top 2, and the ones I use, are Pixabay.com and Pexels.com. You should be able to find images on either of these sites that will work for whatever project you need.

Autoresponder. To be a successful affiliate marketer you must build an email list of loyal fans. To automate this process you will need an autoresponder.

This is simply a service that automates your email marketing. These services will make it easy to create an optin form for your website, add subscribers to your list and automate the process of sending emails out to them periodically.

You just have to create a followup email series one time and it will go out to the people who sign up to your list automatically. There are many autoresponder services available but I like GetResponse.

One of the reasons I chose them over other services is that they are easy to use, they have good tutorials and their customer service is very responsive if you need help.

Tracking. When you start spending time and/or money to drive traffic to your website it’s imperative that you know what works and what doesn’t. The only way to know that is with tracking.

Google Analytics is one of the best ways to get tons of information about the people who are coming to your website. Google analytics doesn’t cost anything so sign up and add it to your website as soon as your site is up and running.

What’s Next?

There are other affiliate marketing resources you will want to add eventually.

But, these resources are what you need now, no need to overwhelm yourself with every little thing. Besides, some people prefer different tools than others. Once you’re going you can decide which tools and resources work best for you.

For now, these tools will help your affiliate marketing business get off to a solid start.

Content Marketing Strategy – What You Need To Know

content marketing strategy
Content marketing strategy
Was this article helpful? Pin it!

To create a solid content marketing strategy you need to understand what content marketing is.

In short, content marketing involves putting out content (blog posts, articles, videos, info-graphics) regularly. This content should answer questions or provide helpful information to the people in your niche.

Over time, your content will be seen by people who are interested in your niche topic. They will appreciate the free advice your content provides, and they will come to view you as an expert in your niche.

Once that happens, they will be far more likely to make a purchase from you when you recommend a certain product or service.

Get my latest book FREE Fastest Way To $100 A Day With Affiliate Marketing Learn how to quickly get to at least $100/ day. From there you can build your business as big as you want!

Here are the steps to creating your content marketing strategy:

  1. Who Are You Creating Content For – First things first, you should know who your ideal customer or client is. What are they looking for? What do they need help with? Once you know these things you can tailor your content to their needs.
  2. What Are Your Goals? – You should also know what your marketing goals are. Are you trying to grow your email list? Build your brand? Set yourself up as an authority in your niche? Or all of the above? Having a clear view of your goals will enable you to create content that will further those goals.
  3. Best Type of Content For Your Niche – Decide the right types of content for your niche and customers. Content can be blog articles, videos, podcasts, info graphics, webinars or virtually any other way to communicate with your customers. Some types of content will work better than others depending on your niche. Try to determine the most effective kind of content and create more of that for your customers, though you can and should still mix it up occasionally.
  4. Build an Email List – This is the best way to have continual access to your customers. When you do email marketing properly, you can have a customer base that is engaged with you. They will like and trust you and when that happens they will be more likely to take your recommendations and make a purchase when you suggest a certain product or service.
  5. Maximize Impact of Your Content – Squeeze as much as you possibly can from every single piece of content you create. If you write an article create some pins for that article and pin them on Pinterest. Create a Facebook post about that article. Update Instagram and Twitter about your latest article (or whatever type of content you’ve created). You can even create a short video going over some of the points of your article and add a link back to your blog. And don’t forget to send an email to your list and let them know you’ve added new content to your blog. Oh, and don’t forget to add links to ALL of these other places that point right back to your blog!

Beyond The Basics

Now that you have the basic idea of a good content marketing strategy, you may be wondering how to figure out what to write about

There are many ways to come up with ideas of topics to create content around. The best one is your own experience. Hopefully you’re in a niche that you already know a little about.

If so than you already have an idea of what the most common issues, problems or questions associated with that niche are. From there you can just create a piece of content that explains how to solve that issue.

For example, let’s say you’re in the golf niche and you know from personal experience that it can be challenging trying to decide which new golf club to buy. You could create an article or video explaining what someone should look for when buying a new putter or driver.

Beyond your own knowledge you can check out other blogs in your niche and get content ideas from them. Go to BuzzSumo.com and plug in your niche search term EX. Best golf clubs. You can get a list of the top content around that keyword.

Another great resource for finding content ideas are social media sites like Pinterest and Facebook. Plugin your keyword and find out what people are searching for.

NOTE: NEVER plagiarize!!! I can’t stress this enough. It’s perfectly fine to get inspiration and learn from other blogs and content online. But you must create a completely unique piece of content. It’s NOT ok to just change a few words or sentences. You must create a totally original piece of content!

Time To Start Creating

Now that you’ve got a blueprint for your content marketing strategy and you have some ideas of where to find topics you’re ready to get started.

Remember the sooner you start the sooner you’ll build a loyal following that appreciate the help your content provides. And they’ll trust you enough to make purchases when you recommend a product or service!

Affiliate Marketing For Bloggers In 5 Easy Steps

affiliate marketing for bloggers

Affiliate marketing for bloggers starts with creating a great blog. Now “great” can be subjective.

Opinions can vary greatly as to what constitutes a great blog but the most important aspect is quality content that is congruent with whatever niche you choose.

Here are the top 5 affiliate marketing for bloggers tips to get started:

1. Choose Your Niche

This is the obvious starting point since you can’t have a successful affiliate marketing blog if you don’t know what niche you want to be in. There are tons of ways to do niche research but 2 of the best, in my humble opinion, are Pinterest and Facebook.

Both of these social platforms have an enormous amount of people who visit them daily. And they have an enormous amount of topics that people view.

Get my latest book FREE Start A Blog In 5 Easy Steps Work from home and create a six figure income with your own blog. Start now!

If you’re not sure if the niche you want to pursue will be profitable go to these 2 sites and plug your niche name into the search bar, choose “groups” and see what comes up.

In Facebook it looks like this…

affiliate marketing for bloggers

Find some groups in the niche you’re considering and check them out. How many members do they have? How active are the? This will give you a ton of information about the niche you’re considering.

In Pinterest it looks like this:

affiliate marketing for bloggers

And as you can see in Pinterest, you don’t even have to enter the full search term, you will get other ideas listed below. This tells you what other topics within a given niche people are looking for!

And one more thing to consider about a niche, don’t be afraid of a niche that’s really competitive, that just means there are a lot of potential customers.

To give yourself an edge, though, don’t go broad in your niche, drill down. For example, instead of using the niche Keto Diet, drill it down to Keto Diet for people over 50.

Once you’ve chosen a great niche, you need products to sell. Now it’s time to find an affiliate network and sign up. There are tons to choose from and which ones you choose will depend in part to the niche you’re in.

If you’re niche is something that you would want to sell physical products – like yogas accessories, golf accessories, cookware, etc. your first affiliate platform should probably be Amazon.com

If your niche is the type of niche where digital products are popular – think learning to write, parenting tips, or dog training, Clickbank.com is a great place to find a wide variety of digital products for you to promote on your blog.

NOTE: Dog training, and many other niches, can straddle both digital and physical products. For example, you can sell a digital dog training course and also offer physical products such as leashes and dog pens.

2. Your Blog Needs A Home

Affiliate marketing for bloggers means you’ll need a blog! Your blog will need a domain name and a hosting account. It may seem confusing but think of it like this – the domain name is the name of your website, it’s kind of like your online address.

The hosting account is the “property” your website sits on. It’s like your online lot.

There are many places to get a domain name. They’re cheap too. You can usually get one for about $10 a year.

When choosing a domain name here are some tips:

  1. Keep them name fairly short
  2. Make sure the name tells people what your blog is about
  3. Only get a .com domain name

A hosting account will only cost a few dollars a month so this isn’t a big expense. Most hosting accounts and/or domain providers offer a lot of resources to get your website set up and ready to go.

Get my latest book FREE Start A Blog In 5 Easy Steps Work from home and create a six figure income with your own blog. Start now!

3. Add Content

Affiliate marketing for bloggers means that people in your niche will come to you to learn more about your niche topic. Since a good niche includes lots of people who are passionate about it, they are always interested in sharing ideas, learning ways to improve or getting motivated.

If you consistently add new, interesting and helpful content to your blog, people will come back over and over again.

So, what type of content should you add? Well, ideally you’ve chosen a niche that you have at least a little interest and experience in.

If so then you arelady have a good idea of what issues or problems people in that niche routinely encounter.

So, with this knowledge you can provide content that will help your audience overcome any problems.

For example, let’s say you’re in the golf niche. People are incredibly passionate about golf. They are always looking to find ways to better their scores, looking for new and better equipment or the best golf courses, etc.

Maybe you could write an article about the best golf courses in a certain area, or a review of the newest putter. Or maybe record a video with tips on improving your putting.

You get the idea. Find what problems or concerns people in your niche have (Facebook and Pinterest are good places for this) then provide helpful content that will help your audience overcome that problem!

And content is more than just the written word. A well written blog post, if done correctly, will attract a large audience. But, you can also add video, info-graphics and any other type of content that will help your audience.

The 2 big things to remember about content are:

  1. Be consistent. Don’t write 10 articles one week and then not write another word for a year.
  2. Always create content with an eye toward providing value to your audience.

4. Build A List

I think this is one of the single biggest mistakes people make when just starting out, they fail to optimize their website visitors.

I talkk about this a lot but I’ve heard, and my personal experience confirms it, that upwards of 98% of the people who come to your website won’t buy anything and they won’t ever come back.

Think about that, that’s a huge number of people you’ll never see again.
When you consider all the effort you put in to creating great content and driving traffic to your site, dang, what a waste!

The good news is that there are ways around this, namely building an email list.

It’s pretty easy to do, here are the basic steps:

  1. Get an autoresponder. This will automate the process of sending follow up emails and adding subscribers to your email list.
  2. Create a lead magnet. This could be a short report, a checklist, a short tutorial video, etc. Just think of something that will help your audience solve a common problem in your niche.
  3. Add optin forms to multiple places throughout your blog and use your lead magnet as an incentive to get them to sign up to your email list.
  4. Create helpful followup email sequences. With the autoresponder you can create these followup messages once and they will be delivered automatically over time whenever someone signs up to your email list.
  5. Treat the people on your email list with respect and they will stay subscribed for possibly years to come. Learn how to create the right balance in your email sequence between informational and promotional emails here.

5. Time To Monetize

Building an email list is one of the best ways to make money from your blog. If you do it correctly people on your list will stay on your list over time and when you send promotional emails many of them will buy from you.

But, an email list is just one of the ways you can make money with your blog. Here are a few other ideas to monetize your blog:

  1. Add Adsense. Adsense is a Google product that you’ve probably seen but just didn’t know it. When you go to website you will see ads, many of those ads are Google Adsense. As a blogger, you will be a publisher. When you sign up to Adsense ads will be placed on your blog (this is all automatic and easy to do). When someone clicks on one of those ads you’ll earn a small commission.
  2. Affiliate links. When you become an affiliate for various affiliate programs you will be given a distinct url for the specific products you choose to promote. You can add those urls to your blog posts. When someone clicks on the url and makes a purchase you earn a commission.

Affiliate Markeintg For Bloggers

Bloggers have the potential to make a lot of money using affiliate marketing as a way to monetize their blog.
But it all begins with a blog filled with really good contnet.

Now dont’ think “really good content” means you have to be a great writer.

You don’t.

Create quality content of course, but overall make sure your content provides value for your audience.

Helping your audience solve some problem or teach them something new through your content is the biggest secret to making money blogging.

And remember – the sooner you start the sooner you’ll be making a steady income online!

So trust me when I say that I understand how frustrating and challenging it can be to try to get enough quality traffic to your blog and landing pages.

But, there are many ways to get quality traffic for free. In this article I’ll show you the best free traffic sources you can start using today to drive traffic where ever you want it to go.

Best Free Traffic Sources

1. Social Media

This is the most commonly used method to drive free traffic – the reason for that is because it works!

Part of the benefit of using social media is that the various platforms, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, etc. make it really easy to target the exact people who will be the most interested in your message.

Being able to tune in to the exact people who are most likely to be interested in your product or service saves a ton of time and money.

Creating profiles on all of these social media sites and posting content that your desired audience will want to see, can build you a huge following of potential customers.

Do yourself a favor and don’t just go with Facebook or Twitter. True they are huge, but so are Pinterest and Youtube. These platforms are often overlooked by internet marketers.

3 best free traffic sources

2. Your Blog

Believe it or not a blog can be an absolute goldmine if you do it correctly. Adding content that is highly relevant to your chosen niche is the best way to draw an audience and keep that audience engaged and coming back over and over again.

Once you have built your audience you can monetize your content with ads for affiliate offers as well as optin forms for your email list.

And the nice thing about your blog is that you don’t have to write articles if you don’t want to. You can outsource content creation, even if you have a very limited budget, you can find people online who will write an article for you very cheaply.

Beyond outsourcing your content you can also curate content. This is the best way to add quality, on topic content to your blog regularly without spending your whole life creating new content.

And don’t forget, content is more than just articles. Content includes videos, images, infogrpahics, etc.

No matter what type of content you add, do these 4 things to increase your results

  1. Make sure the content is highly relevant to your niche. Stay on target!
  2. Add content consistently. A little here and a little there won’t work if you want consistent traffic flowing to your website.
  3. Use keywords related to your niche. You can find ideas on BuzzSumo.com for free. Just type in a relevant keyword and see what content comes up. BuzzSumo will give you a count of how popular the content is on various social media sites.
  4. Share your content. It doesn’t matter if you create the best content ever seen by mankind…no one will just magically find it. You have to submit your content to other places. Create an update for your Facebook page, create some pins for your Pinterest account, send out a tweet. You get the idea. Increases your exposure by sharing your content.

3. Email

Don’t waste your time driving traffic to your website if you’re not going to capture their contact info. Up to 98% of the people who visit your website won’t buy anything and they will never come back.

Don’t waste your traffic driving efforts. Add multiple optin forms throughout your site to encourage people to sign up to your email list. Offer them something that is valuable to them and related to your niche as an incentive to signup.

Short reports, checklists and how to guides work incredibly well if they provide your visitor with a solution to a common problem.

Building an email list can be like having your own ATM. That’s not hype. If you take the time to nurture your list and provide them with helpful information on a regular basis, they will learn to trust you and like you.

People buy from people they like and trust! So build trust and the next time you send out a promotional email, you will get more sales. The bigger your list, the more sales you’ll make!

Affiliate marketing is not a new concept, it’s been around for years even before the internet. But, the internet has made it possible for many more people to use this business model to make great incomes online.

Now it’s your turn!

The Real Truth

The truth is that people don’t buy from strangers. Online or offline. People usually only buy from people, or companies, they are familiar with and they trust.

That familiarity may be the result of seeing amusing commercials for years. Or it may be the result of reading blog posts and receiving helpful email messages. Either way, a little time and a little “give before you get” is needed to create enough trust so people feel comfortable buying from you.

Here are the top 3 ways how to make money with affiliate marketing…

Create An Online Gathering Space

The best way to create this following is to create a blog. Add helpful, actionable blog posts at least once a week.

Over time you can build up a large following of people who trust you, like you and will buy from you. Whether you sell your own products, physical products or other peoples products as an affiliate.

The first step is to create a space where you can interact with them.

Create Your Own List

No doubt you’ve heard the saying “the money is in the list”. That means as you grow a loyal following, you want them to be on your email list so you can continually email them. Don’t rely solely on them coming to your blog to read your latest posts, create an optin form and an email list so you can communicate with them over and over again, continually building trust.

Your email list, as with your blog posts, should build trust by adding a ton of value to your readers. Help them solve problems they are having by giving them simple, actionable tips they can follow. Do this consistently and it won’t take long until they trust you enough to buy the product or service you recommend!

But, that trust can be taken away very quickly too. Never abuse the people on your list by sending email after email that doesn’t provide them with any value and is nothing more than a sales pitch. Don’t forget that at the bottom of every email you send is the “unsubscribe” button!

I send 3 informative email messages ant then I send out one message that is just a sales pitch, then 3 more that are informative / educational, etc. You will need to experiment to see what ratio works well with your subscribers.

Create A Flood Of Website Traffic

The final step is to get people coming to your blog so they read your posts, optin to your email list and eventually buy your products. There are a lot of ways to drive traffic online. For most people free, organic traffic will be the first step since it’s…free.

The best way to get free traffic is to get the search engines to send it to you!

The big search engines like Bing and Google love to offer their customers plenty of fresh new content. So, if you write fresh content regularly, the search engines will notice and your blog will start showing up at the top of search results and that will bring a lot of traffic to your site.

To make this happen, optimize your blog posts with relevant keywords. By choosing the right keywords you may be able to rank your content on the top of the first page of results.

Keyword research doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming, there is software that can do it for you in a few seconds.

Once you are making some money, you will probably want to learn how to effectively use paid traffic sources too. The same keyword software will serve you well for paid traffic generation too!

Create A Dream Business

As you can see, none of this is difficult. If you can send an email you can quickly and easily learn the skills needed to make your own dream life business.

And, the advantages of learning how to make money with affiliate marketing is that so much of the work involved can be automated or outsourced.

That means you can earn a lot of money and still have plenty of free time to enjoy it!

Don’t like to write blog posts? Not a problem, you can hire someone to do it for you. Don’t know how to put up a blog? No issues, hire someone! Don’t know how to do keyword research? Don’t worry, there is a software program for that!

Here is your task – just take action. That’s why most people never have any success – they never DO anything; They read articles, watch videos, buy multiple courses, but they never put that knowledge to work.

Good luck on your journey!

Blogging Mistakes You’re Making – Top 5 Blogging Mistakes To Avoid

make money blogging

Starting a blog to make money online? Good for you! Most people never get that far. But, if you’re making these common blogging mistakes you won’t make a penny.

women in hammock relaxing with done for you blog creation

Here are the top 5 blogging mistakes you don’t know you’re making:

One Extreme Or The Other

Bloggers, especially new bloggers, tend to go to one extreme or the other in terms of using keywords in their articles.

They put so many keywords in that the article doesn’t read naturally and will turn people off. Or, they don’t put any keywords in their article at all.

Add keywords in your title and throughout your article, where it makes sense and sounds natural. Also, add keywords to the Alt Text section of any photos you upload for added keyword ooomph!

Not Grabbing Their Interest

Many people online today have the attention span of a gnat. They skim, they rarely read every word you’ve written and they’ll click away from your article in record time if you’ve not provided a little white space.

One long block of text is intimidating and people won’t read it. Break up your text with spaces, images, subheadings, bullet points and plenty of white space.

If reading your articles seems like it will be a lot of work, no one will read. This is one of the easiest blogging mistakes to avoid!

No Pictures

Add attractive, eye catching images to your posts. At least one. Depending on the topic, you can add more throughout the article.

Lighten Up

You aren’t writing for a university or other professional organizations, you’re writing for real people. And real people, no matter how intelligent they are, don’t like to wade through tons of jargon, or unnecessarily big words.

Write like you talk, keep your writing casual and conversational. A trick to ensure your writing is easy to read, is to read your article out loud to yourself.

Does it flow? Are there awkward sentences? If so, clean them up. If it’s easy to read out loud, it’ll be easy for others to read to themselves!

Inconsistency

The most common blogging mistake is to be inconsistent in publishing new posts. To be a successful blogger you need to build an audience. In order for people to visit your blog regularly, you need to provide them with a steady stream of content that they’re interested in.

To ensure steady content creation, make a content calendar. Take a day once a month (or once a week if that works better) and plan out your content for the month, or week.

Figure out what topics you’re going to write about. Do keyword research for those topics. Figure out the days and times you’ll publish. Add all this to a spreadsheet file or on a legal pad. It doesn’t matter, just do it.

This makes the whole writing process a lot easier. Nothing is more daunting than sitting down to a blank screen with no idea what you’re going to write about!

As a bonus, a way to leverage every piece of content you create and get more traffic and more exposure, here is a product that I have used myself and highly recommend.
